Medical marijuana has been proven to be a safe and well-tolerated alternative for many pharmaceuticals.
Currently, individuals can legally access marijuana through the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR). Under the ACMPR, Canadians with a medical need and who have authorization from a health care practitioner can access cannabis through Health Canada Licensed Producers (LPs).
The decision to use cannabis for medical purposes is between the patient and the authorized health care practitioner. Each patient is assessed individually to determine if the patient is a suitable candidate for medical cannabis. If eligible, the patient will be given a Medical Document which contains information similar to a prescription.
